Yamaguti and Shimonoseki skill up camp

Yamaguti and Shimonoseki skill up camp

2024 is the start of a new school year and the climate is changing rapidly. Are you having fun?

We recently held a “Yamaguchi/Shimonoseki training camp”.
We held a one-night, two-day (5/18-5/19) training camp in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Active people from a wide range of generations, from 18 years old to adults, gathered from all over the country!

On the first day, we visited Shimonoseki City Aquarium Kaikyokan.
We saw an exhibition of pufferfish, which boasts the largest number of species in the world, and a performance of sea lions and dolphins.
Based on educational considerations, the museum set up a “lifestyle exhibition” and exhibited the natural habits and actions of animals.

Mr. Oshima, who used to be a member of Youth Eco, gave us an introductory tour.
There was also a space where you could actually touch and experience the products.
There is also a “Humboldt Penguin Special Reserve” where you can see Humboldt penguins in their wild state.

It seems that the sea creatures that the zookeepers have actually captured are on display. At this booth, it seems that each zookeeper displays what they want to display. Also, it seems that the introduction panels were created by individuals, so they were unique and easy to read.
The photo on the left is an actual exhibit created by Mr. Oshima.

We stayed one night in a log house at Akiyoshidai Family Travel Village. The area was surrounded by forests, so there were insects on my bed, but the air was fresh and I was able to spend a comfortable time there.

On the second day, we visited Akiyoshido.
Akiyoshido is a national park that has been certified by the Ministry of the Environment as a “wetland of high importance from the perspective of biodiversity.”

We had lunch at Shisan Udon Yamaguchi Yuda branch.
I wasn’t able to take a photo of the large sign at the entrance of the store, but it seems that they are conducting the “SUKESAN SDGs project” with the aim of creating a sustainable society!

I went to watch the soccer team where Mr. Saito, who is still active with Youth Eco, works.
It seems that Renofa Yamaguchi FC is also involved in environmental activities!
