On October 19, the first Youth Econet exchange meeting was held!
Our guest speakers were Professor Ryoichi Yamamoto, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, and Mr. Tomoaki Nishihara, who kindly introduced his own published work and shared various insights with us.
Since this was our first meeting, the number of youth participants and observers ended up being about the same.
As a result, it was somewhat difficult for the youth members to speak up during the discussion.
However, we plan to make improvements in the next meeting to encourage more active interaction.
This time, the exchange meeting was held at Gakushikaikan.
We listened to Professor Yamamoto’s lecture, enjoyed a light dinner, and then heard from Mr. Nishihara and took part in discussions.
The main topic of discussion was the difference in approaches to environmental issues between Japan and the rest of the world.
Since this was only the first exchange meeting, we hope to expand in the future—with more participants, more topics, and more lively conversations!
